SUMMARY:FASCETS Neurobehavioral Approach: Strengths and Accommodations
DESCRIPTION:A couple of years ago a foster parent asked me what I knew about FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) and honestly it was “not much” She suggested the book Trying Differently Rather than Harder by Diane Malbin and that led me to a string of other books\, websites and training events and this series that I have found most impactful. \nThe reality is that 1 in 20 people have FASD–that is more than autism and Downs syndrom combined. That would be enough to appreciate the value of FASCETS neurobehavioral approach. The best part is that this train provides support for ALL TYPES of Brain Based Differences. \nIn this session you will practice using the exploration tool as well as the accomodations grid. Both are important tools to build on a person’s strengths and move toward success. This class is open to foster and adoptive families licensed with KVC or Children’d Division. Staff are also welcome.
